About

Hello! I’m Ms. Nadia , I’ve been teaching piano for about 14 years, and let me share a little more about my musical journey.

I began learning piano at tender age of 4 and since then music has always be a passion of mine. I continued learning until I get my Bachelor degree from LASALLE and was awarded with tuition grant. Along the way,  I also attained LRSM and DipAbrsm from the Royal School of Music. Was Yamaha trained as a child, I developed an ability to play by ear and alongside my classical piano training, i also explored contemporary music; new age, pop and jazz.

I teach beginner to advance level/diploma, in my comfortable and conducive home studio in Bishan, where my students enjoy to play on the yamaha grand piano and access to wide range of music sheets. I also teach adult student who learns for leisure, to play by ear/be able to improvise to their favourite tune. Ever since I started teaching full time back in 2009, I have organised students concert biannually, to create opportunities for students to perform, to build their confidence, to showcase what they have been working on, and also to learn from each other.

My music classes are customised according student’s need and to which area they need to improve on. I do prepare students for exam grading, but my teaching goal is that my students grow lifelong enjoyment of music and aptitude to learn. I believe in holistic learning, the importance of building strong foundation and developing good musicianship.

Lesson will include mix of repertoires, technic/etudes, aural, theory, and also pieces of their choice, be it classical masterpiece, current pop songs, disney songs, anime or movie soundtrack, duets ( I love duets! For younger ones I sometimes will arrange the duet myself to their ability and improvise on the accompaniment to make it sound great). I am also familiar with MEP (music elective program) for secondary school students and able to journey with them in the preparation, composition and the examination itself as a accompanist.

My students come from various age group. It is gratifying to see them grow musically and also as an individual, I’m grateful to be a part of their learning journey. Some started when they were in early primary and stayed on until they are now young adults themselves, and together we achieved various grading and milestones. I constantly upgrading myself and to me, music is lifelong journey. I believe that it is never too late to learn and yet there are still a lot to explore.
